Among the common fears and complaints of perimenopausal women is that they don’t feel sensual anymore.

One reason may be that as we progress through menopause, the vaginal walls become thinner and dryer. They can also lose their elasticity, causing intercourse to be painful.

Knowing that, it may cause you to put it off longer and longer.

I am convinced there is no reason why the majority of us cannot have a satisfying and healthy sexual life during and after menopause.

The good news is, the more often you have sexual relations with your partner, the less it will hurt. It comes under Use It or Lose It like other body parts we have.

Some women who are in menopause say, "It is the best sex I have ever had." So have positive expectations for you and your partner.

Some women have to make adjustments such as adding a water based (vaginal) lubricant to make intercourse more comfortable and it may take longer to become aroused. It may take longer for your partner too. Women are not alone with that challenge, as we are all affected in that way as we get older. (I highly recommend the VitalVulva Wild Yam Salve under the tab - Sheri Recommends)

You have to admit it is nice not have any worries about getting pregnant or having to use some type of birth control.

If you and your honey have the house to yourselves again, this will give you more time to relax and to not hurry through the process. You can even "get to know" each other again.

Have a glass of wine if you need to take the edge off of the day. Have fun, go with the flow and see what happens!
