Can you remember times in your life when you really felt sexy? What did that feel like? Wasn’t it fun when you got the response you were looking for from your partner? What were you wearing?

A lot of times we don’t feel sexy or attractive at this time in our lives. At least not until we get some answers and know all the symptoms we are having is a part of this natural process called menopause.

Sometimes I look into the mirror and think, "I look older now. I can see lines that never used to be there. I have grey in my hair. My hairstyle looks old. My skin looks dull. My clothes make me look frumpy."

If you find yourself looking into the mirror and saying one or more of these things, you are not alone.

The media and our society have everyone thinking only young women can beautiful. Can this belief system be changing? Possibly, because of the record numbers of baby boomers that are approaching "mid life" at one time.

Maybe it will help if we adopt the phrase, "fake it until you make it."

I am not suggesting that we fake orgasms. I am saying when we allow ourselves to make a date with our partners, to make it a special event and time together. Try to stay in the present moment without any interruptions and this may help you to start to feel more sexually attractive.

Find time when you won’t be rushed. Light scented candles, play some nice music that is relaxing, wear something that makes you feel good about yourself. Or dress up as someone else. Keep it light and make it fun.

Use different make up if you want to. Do whatever you have to do in order to feel sexy like you used to feel. Attitude is a big part of feeling sexy and looking sexy.

If you do what you can to get into that feeling – then it is going to spill over. Your partner will definitely see you as sexy and will be thrilled you have taken the initiative to go to the trouble and plan the time with him. Especially having the focus on just him or just the two of you.

At this age, maybe we have to decide to have a sex life instead of being driven to it. Getting into the mood is a choice we can make starting in our minds.
