Where Toxins Show Up
Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 6:00PM Did you realize that we get toxins from many different sources?
Food Toxins
Our scientific and industrial progress has a serious drawback: Its by-products. Man-made industrial and agricultural chemicals are severely contaminating our planet, disrupting nature's cycles, and deeply affecting humans and wildlife alike.
There is a very interesting documentary you can rent called, The Corporation that explains what is happening to our food supply.
Environmental Toxins
Industrial pollution from car fumes, factories and combustion pollutants, cannot be ignored. A great percentage of pesticides and insecticides used on fruit and vegetables are known to be carcinogenic. (cancer causing)
Household Toxins
The most innocent items such as furniture, TV sets, other electrical appliances, carpets and rugs often contain stain-repellent or fire-retardant chemicals. Many of the ones used as flame-retardants (brominated flame-retardants) persist for a long time in the home environment, eventually accumulating in our bodies. Research has shown that they can potentially disrupt our natural hormonal system over time.
We haven't even mentioned toxic cleaning supplies most people use in their homes and offices.
Lifestyle Toxins
Excessive smoking, drinking, over-the-counter, prescription, illegal drugs, food additives and colorants, all create toxic deposits in the body cells, as does undigested organic matter. Think of all the products we use on our bodies, the facial skin, etc. that may contain preservatives and chemicals the body does not recognize. Then what happens? Where does the body store the toxins? Could it be that they are contributing to dis-ease of the body over time?
I have to mention our water supply also as recently we hear from mainstream news that our water contains traces of various prescription drugs in it. Over a period of time all of these deposits can cause serious health problems.
I am not sure how aware you are of this, but here are some important benefits of drinking enough water daily: helps to rid the body of waste, helps to maintain proper muscle tone, can relieve constipation, suppresses the appetite naturally and helps the body metabolize stored fat, and helps with fluid retention. Don't underestimate the power of water in the body.
I started paying attention to my thoughts. As I started paying attention to the chatter in my head, I began to ask myself this question: "Is this thought empowering to me or disempowering to me?"
Our thoughts can be poisonous to our body; we have to be aware of what we are thinking. It does affect everything about our body and our life. What we focus on will expand (into our life!)
environment,
food,
household,
lifestyle,
toxins
